As the winter weather settles in, we want to ensure that all students arrive and leave school safely each day. Recently, we have noticed several unsafe situations during drop-off and pick-up, and we are asking for your support.

Student Safety Concerns:

  • Students crossing between buses
  • Jaywalking or not using the designated crosswalks
  • Not looking for vehicles before crossing
  • Icy roads that make it difficult for cars to stop quickly

Family Vehicle Safety Concerns:

  • Students being dropped off across the street, encouraging unsafe crossings
  • U-turns happening directly in front of the school
  • Vehicles stopping or waiting in the bus zone
  • Vehicles, including buses, stopping/parking in the crosswalk

These behaviours create dangerous conditions for students, families, and drivers.

To help keep everyone safe, please:

  • Do not stop in the bus zone at any time
  • Avoid U-turns near the school
  • Encourage your child to use the crosswalk and wait until it is safe to cross
  • Drop students off on the school side of the street whenever possible

This week, homeroom teachers will be revisiting these safety expectations with all students.

We truly appreciate your cooperation in keeping our students safe. Thank you for your continued partnership in creating a safer school community.
