Good evening and Happy "School Eve" to all of the Sam Shaw parents and students. Today staff continued to get ready for tomorrow and we are just putting some final touches up around the school. Just a reminder that all of our grade 5 and 6 students will meet their homeroom teachers in the main gymnsasium. Our grade 7, 8, 9 students will make their way to their homeroom classes. We will have many staff members on hand to help assist students to help them get to where they need to be. In the event that your student cannot find the homeroom or are not on a grade 5/6 homeroom list or 7, 8, 9 homeroom list we ask those students to go to the Learning Commons, it just means we have not toggled a button on their name :).
We are asking students to be in their spaces by 9:10 as we begin the process of the routines of the year. Doors will be open by 8:00 which will allow any students that want to come early the opportunity to come find their spaces connect with their friends.
A reminder that as we start the year we are atempting to re-set and create routines, expectations and the environment where your student can find success. This includes our messaging around cell phones. Once students have their lockers we will be asking students to begin the process of that routine. Students over the next few days will receive their student schedule. I would like to reinforce that our students in grades 7, 8, 9 will have had an opportunity to give us their priority ranking. We have placed students accordingly, and recognize that they will also get two new options for next semester. Students will have time during the second semster to get their top choices if they did not get them the first semseter. Our grade 5, 6 students will have a complimentary wheel they will participate in on Fridays through the year.
We know there will be lots of excitement tomorrow from everyone as we begin our 23-24 school year. Shannnon and I on behalf of the staff want to thank you for your support in advance and know that togther we will have an awesome year of learning for your student.
