Sam Shaw – Parent Message
Good afternoon and happy Sunday to the Sam Shaw community. We hope this finds you enjoying this fall weekend. many of our basketball teams have been participating in tournaments across the city this weekend and we want to express our gratitude to the parents who have support their student in these opportunities. Having been out to watch some games yesterday I was so impressed with the effort of play and the support that our students have in our parent community. We are looking forward to hosting this coming week at Shaw. We also have some home soccer games this week so it will be a busy week around Shaw. I also want to thank our coaches, many of them staff members and we have a few community coach volunteers as well. I am grateful that we have people who want to volunteer their time to support the opportunities for our students.
We also have our second parent council this Thursday. The council starts at 6:30pm. We are always looking for parent perspective at these meetings and parent voice is critical to us moving our learning environment forward. We would also like to thank all those who have signed up to volunteer at the casino that we are hosting next weekend. We know the funds from these opportunities can have significant impact in the learning environment and we are grateful to the support we receive in the source of these funds.
We have a professional learning day coming this Friday. Our day will be spent looking at the data that we have collected so far, along with data from last year in making some decisions about where we will focuss our School Development Plan. We will use this as an opportunity to come together to make plans, create tasks and ensure we are creating learning opportunities that will help ensure we are meeting our current students where they are at. I will be sharing in future messages the results and focusses of this work and how we are meeting student’s needs as we progress through the year.
We hope that everyone can have a great day today.
Stay well and have a fabulous day.
Terry / Shannon
