Sam Shaw – Parent Message  

Good afternoon to our Sam Shaw families. We hope this finds everyone safe and warm. We want to thank everyone as we started back last week from the Winter Break in amazing ways last week. We know this cold weather has an impact and appreciate the patience and support that was demonstrated last week. We will continue to be supporting students through this cold weather this week by having students inside during lunchtime. 

Just a reminder that tomorrow there is no school for students as we have a PD and Org Day for staff. Staff will continue professional development from a session we had before the break focusing on Assessment practices. They will then be spending time on getting report cards finalized and ready for distribution later this month. Students have been receiving feedback on tasks not completed, and we know many of them are trying to use their time to complete work for assessment for this report card.  

We intend to have grade 7, 8 and 9 students their semester 2 schedules by the end of the week. It is an exciting time as students complete their first semester with our new complimentary program. We have learned a lot about what our students are looking for and are taking advantage of this semester change to continue to respond to our students' needs. I can say that the projects and learning that took place during our first semester was outstanding and can’t wait to see what it will look like during semester 2. Mr. Hilton will be taking artefacts of student work from construction class to a system wide exhibition, where the public will get the opportunity to see the amazing work our students are producing. 

We will be having our January Parent Council session online this week. The meeting starts at 6:30pm. Below is the link to the meeting, as always we want to encourage and welcome our parent community to attend as your voice is important to us.
