Dear Samuel W. Shaw Families,
Thank you to all the families who came out to support Samuel W. Shaw at our Open House, Celebration of Learning, and Spring Concert last Thursday! It was a truly wonderful event, with many community members, new-to-Shaw families, students, and staff there to share in the excitement of a year, almost finished. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our School Council for supplying the delicious hot dogs that fed the many hungry people who came to celebrate with us. It is through their support that events like this one can happen. If you are interested in supporting School Council, or are simply curious about what they do, please join for the final School Council Meeting of the year, Thursday, June 20th, at 6:30PM in the Learning Commons. Everyone is welcome.
We also want to thank all of our parent volunteers who make off-site trips possible. Without their help, students would not be able to experience the many amazing off- campus learning opportunities our teachers plan and provide. There are strict policies and procedures for off-site trips, and ratio of adults to students is near the top of the list. We greatly appreciate these dedicated parents who give their time so selflessly to support the learning adventures at Sam Shaw.
With yet another whirlwind year coming to a close, we can all feel the increasing bubbly energy from the kids. Please know we work tirelessly to keep our routines and expectations in place, as we all know this kind of support provides much needed structure, safety, and security for the students. We know these same conversations are happening at home, and we appreciate the efforts of you, the parents and guardians make to keep structures and routines in place to end the year in good ways.
Sent out earlier this week, Shannon and Kerry look forward to welcoming Mike McMahon, acting principal, to the Sam Shaw team staring on Monday, June 10th. We are excited to learn from such an experienced human being, who, undoubtedly will offer the students and staff stability for the next little while.
