Nov. 3-7 Update | Halloween, Athletics, Remembrance Day, Fun Lunch

Samuel W. Shaw School Storm Update - Halloween & November 3- 7, 2025

Everyone is welcome to wear costumes tomorrow, Friday, October 31. We will welcome costumes so long as the following guidelines are met:
No masks covering the face
No weapons or toy weapons
No inflatable costumes
No mocking of other cultures
Costumes should be in good taste

Please note: There will be no Halloween dance or whole school Halloween activities this year. Halloween will be acknowledged in classrooms.

Grade 6 vaccinations have been POSTPONED- we are working with AHS to reschedule another date.
7:45am-9:00am: SR Boys Basketball practice
3:50-5:00pm: SR Girls Basketball practice

7:45am-9:00am: JR Girls Basketball practice
Remembrance Day assemblies: Please note that the public is welcome to attend ASSEMBLY #2.
Assembly 1 (grades 5, 6, PLP) - 9:45-10:15
Assembly 2 (grades 7-9) - 10:45-11:15 (open to the public)
We will also be collecting money for poppies and non-perishable food for the Veteran's food bank
Dismissal at 1:20pm

Healthy Hunger updates! November 19 will be A&W; The Lunch Lady is cancelled for November 20.
The calendar has been reviewed by CBE and there will be no changes to Fall Break. This is a reminder that Fall break is November 8-12.
The cooler weather has certainly arrived in the mornings, and winter will be here in no time. If your child requires warm winter outerwear (jackets, snowpants, boots) please do not hesitate to contact Ms. Sheldrick (kasheldrick@cbe.ab.ca) or Ms. Kerry (kagreen@cbe.ab.ca). We have a selection of gently used donated items that can be distributed to students in need.
Watch your emails- Band Council will be selling Purdy’s Chocolates again this year! Start thinking about all the yummy treats that will arrive in time for Christmas. Stay tuned for more information!

Nov 27: In-person Parent-Teacher Conferences 4:30-8:00pm (booking information will be shared in the coming weeks)
Nov 28: Online Parent-Teacher Conferences 8:00am-12:00pm; no school for students (booking information will be shared in the coming weeks)
Dec 11: Healthy Hunger- Subway
Dec 19: Last day of classes
Dec 20- January 4: Winter break
Jan 5: Classes resume for 2026
