Sam Shaw – Parent Message

Happy Mother’s Day! We would like to extend warm wishes to all caregivers, guardians, and family members as we celebrate Mother’s Day. We thank you for the love, support, and guidance provided by all. We have another busy exciting week ahead. See details below.

Grade 9 Provincial Achievement Exam on Monday

The grade nines did an amazing job of their practice exam last Wednesday and are well prepared for the real deal on Monday. The official test time is two hours, and during this time students stay in their class to complete their test. At 11:45 AM the official test time is over and grade nine students who are done may choose to go to the Learning Commons, the Gathering Space, or the gym. There will be supervision and activities offered. Students who need more time stay in their class and continue writing. After lunch we return to regularly scheduled classes.

Grade 6 Provincial Exam Field Testing

On Tuesday and Thursday this week (depending on which homeroom they are in) students will be participating in provincial exam field testing for the grade 6 ELA Part A exam. Please reach out to your homeroom teacher if you have any questions.

Badminton Teams

Congratulations to our grade 8 badminton team for their exceptional performance at their meet this past Thursday night! While the results are not official as of this email I can share we placed 1s and 2nd in boys singles, 1st and 3rd in girls singles, 1st and 4th in girls doubles, and placed very high over all in mixed doubles and boys doubles. Best of luck to our grade 7’s on Monday, and grade 9’s on Tuesday!

Drama and Choir Field Trip

On Wednesday our choir and drama students are off to the Storybook Theatre Company to see “The Music Man.” It promises to be fun filled day for our budding artists.

Celebration of Learning/Open House

Mark your calendars! The planning for our celebration of learning and open house is happening on the evening pf June 6. We will also be hosting our feeder schools during the day. Planning is well under way.

No Drop Off in Bus Zone

Please remember that we need to keep the bus zone in front of the school open for the busses. We kindly remind you to drop your kids off in other areas.

Kindly,

Nancy, Kerry, and Shannon
