Dear Samuel W. Shaw Families,
We are thrilled to share with you the buzz of excitement and energy as we kick off the first ‘almost’ full week of the new school year! The start-up of a middle school is always a lively one, and we’re delighted to see our students settling into their routines. The number of students ‘lost’ between classes is decreasing, and it’s wonderful to see them engaging in conversations, laughing, and connecting with one another.
A big thank you to all of you for supporting our efforts to foster a more connected environment. Your encouragement in the mandated Away for the Day- PMD policy and your commitment to helping our students shift from devices to face-to-face interactions have made a real difference.
We also want to extend our gratitude to the awesome staff who helped organize our first pep rally on Friday. It was a huge success—energetic, fun, and memorable, especially with the unforgettable “Barbie” video—watch for this on the website!
Athletics is off to a strong start with basketball tryouts coming up, soccer underway, and Cross Country in full swing. We are grateful for the teacher and parent volunteers who coach and support our student-athletes.
We have our first lock-down practice scheduled for Tuesday. Our teachers will review the expectations with the students, as we practice this important undertaking as a school.
