Orange Shirt Day- Sept 29 This year, staff and students at Samuel W. Shaw School were invited to take part in creating a learning video reflecting on the importance and significance of Orange Shirt Day. Students and staff offered a land acknowledgment and shared personal reflections on their learning journey through the lens of Indigenous ways of Being, Belonging, Doing, and Knowing. This project gave our school community a meaningful opportunity to pause, listen, and learn together — honouring the children who attended residential schools, celebrating the resilience of Survivors and their families, and reaffirming our commitment to truth and reconciliation. We're proud of the thoughtfulness our students and staff brought to this work, and grateful for the chance to grow as a community that values Indigenous knowledge and perspectives. Our Terry Fox Run Friday, October 2. In 1980, Terry showed us what courage, compassion, and determination look like. Today, that example is needed more than ever and we are inspired to join 4,000,000 Canadian students who are leading the way. By fundraising for innovative research our school community is literally changing the lives of Canadians facing cancer. Please remind your student(s) that their cell phones, smart watches, air pods, headphones all need to be away for the day in their lockers!
